Recently TDDS (Transdermal Drug Delivery System) is in the limelight in that the drug is administered through the surface of the skin for delivery throughout the body. Because TDDS has numerous merits by reason that TDDS is suitable for the good maintenance of the drug concentration in the blood, as the dosage is controlled over a specific period, avoidance of the first effect passing through the liver, and reduction to the harmful effect to a digestive organ. It is also useful for the patient who cannot swallow well, children, elderly people, etc., and then it has some side effect, it is possible to interrupt administration easily by taking off.
TDDS drug is not only suitable for the treatment of skin diseases and muscle pain, as has traditionally been the case, but highly beneficial in the treatment of numerous illness such as angina pectoris, asthma, hypertension and so on. Hisamitsu focuses on research and development of this TDDS drug.
